Brasserie Brunel – French Style Brasserie Restaurant

Casual dining in a French style brasserie setting with a menu to match.

Our refurbished restaurant is located in the lovely Grade II listed building designed by the famous architect Isambard Kingdom Brunel and we have named our new dining venue in tribute to this famous designer.

The decor and furnishings have been modelled on a traditional Parisian brasserie and the menu features a number of French specialities together with grills, including steaks, for which we are renowned. Wherever possible our food is sourced locally including our steaks from local farms and the majority of dishes are freshly produced by a first class team of cooks. The menu represents excellent value for money and in addition to the extensive range of very competitively priced a la carte dishes we also offer two fixed price menu options namely, £10.95 for 2 courses and £12.95 for 3 courses.

Open from 12 noon until 10 p.m.

One excellent dinner

We had dinner on Sunday when visiting Bath and staying at the hotel. Excellent attention and very good quality food.

Dinner Exceptional

All the food was beautifully cooked. The following were all memorable: tiger prawns, mussels, pear and blue cheese tart, lamb rump, Eton mess. This is not hotel food, this is restaurant food. The Brunel Brasserie is also a lovely relaxed environment to eat.

Would go back

A wonderful late 3 course meal with selection from the full menu was a delightful end to our evening during our stay in Bath. The staff were professional and amiable, and treated us excellently throughout the evening. Excellent French cuisine at very reasonable prices.

Very nice

My Wife and I visited for Lunch. We had 3 courses which were all first class. I would recommend the Beef with Horseradish mash. My Wife has the Lamb which she said was lovely. The service was good as well.

Excellent food, service and ambience

We stumbled on Brasserie Brunel, having wandered around looking for somewhere to dine, and were not disappointed. Elegant period decor, attentive, professional service and well cooked, classic French cuisine. Prices are comparable to most other restaurants, including chains, but you get something special at Brasserie Brunel, making it very good value for money. We thoroughly enjoyed a great dinner in a lovely atmosphere.

Delicious meal!

A very nice place to eat in Bath. Quality food at a reasonable price. Will eat here on our next visit. Really enjoyed the steak.

A very good lunch with friends

A convenient location meeting with friends, close by the rail and bus station. Initial confusion with our booking and a concurrent promotional offer tied to the Bailbrook Hotel. Excellent value on our two course lunch deal. Sirloin steak thoroughly enjoyed by the two of our party that ordered this as their main course. Good light-hearted banter with our principal server Lena.

Great Value lunch and lovely food

We are visitors to Bath and booked this restaurant for lunch after reading other good reviews – I was not disappointed. Tremendous value and food. Under £30 for 2 people to have a a 3 course lunch each. I had garlic mushrooms, followed by beef bourginon and a lovely rhubarb and ginger crumble and ice cream.

Superb meal, excellent service.

My wife and I recently ate at the Brunel Brasserie here one evening on our way back home by train from Kent just on the off chance, as the Royal (originally the Railway Hotel and built by Brunel) is conveniently situated directly opposite the station. And the prices seemed reasonable. We started with pea rissotto (also available as a main) and quite frankly it was the nicest risotto of any kind I have had (and I have a had a lot over the decades). It was truly exceptional. For mains my wife had a confit of duck (excellent) and I had braised blade of beef with mustard mash – just heavenly with a lovely thick gravy, just as I like gravy to be (no watery jus!). I had an apple tart tartin for dessert – nice, but I would have preferred an English-style apple tart or, better still, an apple crumble. But that is purely personal prejudice! The service was attentive but not intrusive from a very pleasant waitress. All in all, thoroughly recommended.
