Xmas Market

Had another great 2 nights at the Royal, the rooms are very comfortable and kept to a very high standard. Staff are very pleasant and a credit to the hotel and management. The hotels restaurant never fails to impress with quality and choice of food whether that is breakfast, a bar snack and especially the choices for your evening meals (Delicious)!! Have already booked for December 2019 and will probably be back to stay for a few days in the summer.

TripAdvisor – December 2018

This is a lovely hotel

The bedroom & bathroom were clean, with comfortable beds, very nice bathroom accessories and hospitality tray. The bar food was excellent and the staff are lovely. I would be very happy to stay here again and fully intend too.

TripAdvisor – November 2018

Just spent two (v wet ) days in beautiful Bath for The Christmas Market…

As of the last few years – if I extend my visit to this wonderful city from a day trip to a modest 36 hours or more mini-break, I now always stay at the Royal Hotel. Besides being so conveniently situated for both railway and coach arrival and departure – and located so centrally to most of the ‘must do and see’ things that Bath has to offer – all the staff are always so very welcoming and helpful, and after having enjoyed a refreshing 3 hour session at the Thermae Spa – were really great about fitting me in at a good time for a really delicious 3 course dinner – at short notice – so that I could get to see the play that I’d booked at the marvellous Theatre Royal on the evening of my first day. Accommodation (single room) was clean and cosy, with everything that I needed, and breakfast the next morning (thank goodness I’d had dinner so early the evening before !) was as always a great way to begin a hard days’ Christmas shopping . It’s also a lovely place to stay at ANY time of year………

TripAdvisor – November 2018

Great stay

I have just returned from a two day stay at The Royal with my two sisters. We were extremely happy with all aspects of the hotel. The leisure spa deal that we had booked was amazing value and exceeded expectations including two days bed and breakfast two evening meals a cream tea pressed and 2 hours at the spa. We have enjoyed every aspect of it and would highly recommend this deal and The Royal Hotel. The staff our helpful friendly and professional. Special shout out to Heidi on reception what a wonderful welcome she gives and clear information. Thank you

TripAdvisor – November 2018

Very handy

Very good location for this stay, just across the road from the station, very welcoming staff keen to help will all my questions, room was excellent, nice tea tray, nice Tele, great bathroom, comfy bed, I had a great breakfast, bar very good, all and all couldn’t fault this hotel

TripAdvisor – November 2018

Fabulous hotel opposite the station

First time at the hotel and spent a night on a Bed breakfast and evening meal basis to see the first night of the Bath Christmas Markets extravaganza. Wonderful Georgian hotel built by Brunel but kept in splendid condition located opposite the train station – cars just don’t work in Bath!.. On arrival at 12 noon our room was unsurprisingly not available but we were immediately offered locked storage for our luggage. Nicely furnished, luxury corner room with over-sized duvets. Lovely restaurant named the Brunel Brasserie where, well trained staff provided the menu as we had a drink in the bar. Most unusually our BB&E status did not limit us to any fixed price allowance or fixed menu – we had carte blanche to select any of the meals on the menu. Being slightly piggy I ordered the 8oz sirloin steak and it was wonderful as was the starter and pudding course. The food was faultless and the staff were particularly attentive without being over the top. Breakfast was again excellent where we were next to a couple obviously enjoying the wife’s birthday.I would unhesitatingly recommend both the hotel and its Brunel Brasserie.

TripAdvisor – November 2018

Elegant hotel in brilliant location.

Beautifully decorated & comfortable rooms. Elegant & historical, situated within easy walking of Bath centre. Breakfast has good choices. The breakfast staff were almost too attentive! Reception Staff were friendly & helpful & a beautiful array of postcards were on sale.

TripAdvisor – November 2018

Great stay

Friendly staff, nothing was too much trouble. Rooms were spotless and well stocked (inc a cafetiere). Breakfast was cooked to order and plenty of choice. Excellent central location which made visiting Bath really easy.

TripAdvisor – November 2018

The best hotel in Bath!

A lovely hotel, staff are very friendly. The rooms are decorated nicely. The food is amazing! They cater for gluten free people and have a good choice. Gluten free toast is available at request. The receptionist is lovely and you can store your luggage on your departure day. Bar and restaurant has a lovely atmosphere and the hotel could not be in a better location. A stone’s throw from the train station and shops!

TripAdvisor – November 2018

Perfect

I stayed here one night. It was great. What I liked about the hotel was the room size, how clean the room was, speed of signing in, massive breakfast options, signing out and friendly staff. The location of the hotel is fantastic, right by the city centre, the cathedral is a 10 min walk, all the shops are 5 mins. The price was a bargain. I’d stay here again.

TripAdvisor – November 2018

Perfect location

Lovely hotel, I enjoyed the excellent food and the staff were great. I would definitely recommend this hotel. Stayed for two days on the spa deal. It was very conveniently located to the baths and the train station.

TripAdvisor – November 2018

We enjoyed our stay and the hotel is in a very good location for exploring Bath

This was the first time we had stayed at the Royal but would certainly make a return visit. The accommodation was in keeping with style of the building and both clean and comfortable. We dined in the hotel both nights and the food was excellent. Breakfast was also good we have never seen such a comprehensive breakfast menu. The reception and restaurant staff were friendly and efficient.

TripAdvisor – November 2018

Excellent small hotel in Bath

Stayed two nights on a short ‘city break’. We were very pleased with everything at this friendly and convenient hotel just opposite Bath Spa train station. Kind and thoughtful staff, lovely room, delicious breakfast, excellent dinner on our first evening and a great location. All extremely good value for money and nothing to find fault with. Highly recommended.

TripAdvisor – October 2018

A lovely pleasant stay

We stayed for one night 30th October and could not fault one thing. From the polite and friendly staff to the excellent food and drink it really was such a nice stay. Will be recommending to friends and family!

TripAdvisor – October 2018

Weekend away

Great hotel very friendly staff ,nice clean rooms very central location ,good breakfast nice bacon, sausage and eggs good bar area ,staff can’t do enough for you nice touch with fan in the room plenty of tea and coffee too

TripAdvisor – October 2018

Once again an excellent stay

After yet another stay at this lovely Hotel i will attempt another review but i expect it will sound a bit like my other reviews. First of all the staff were once again smart efficient friendly polite and welcoming. Our room was 103 which we requested and were very kindly allocated (Thanks Tim)
Our room was spacious spotless with a large bathroom. A good sized tv and coffee and tea making facilities with a good supply of tasty biscuits. The Hotel itself is tastefully decorated with the Dining Room very ornate and spotlessly clean. The Brunel Lounge is also a nice place to relax and chill again spotless. A big plus to my mind was the toilets which are very clean and fresh (clean toilets mean clean establishment in my opinion) The food was tasty fresh and nicely presented by staff who really know the meaning of the words good service. The menus for both breakfasts and main meals are extensive. You really are spoilt for choice. The location of the Royal is ideal for trains buses and shopping. All I can say to Mike and all your very professional staff thank you very much once again for making our stay in Bath such a wonderful experience and you can rest assured we will be staying with you again. Don’t change anything and keep up the good work.

TripAdvisor – October 2018

Our second visit was just as good as our first!

We re-visited the Royal Hotel last week, and brought a group of 16 friends with us for a 5 night City break coupled with Bridge sessions each evening. As usual, the Hotel staff looked after us superbly and we even had exclusive use of the Isambard lounge for our Bridge tournaments. Starting with the cream tea on Sunday afternoon the restaurant provided some excellent food and wine throughout with a really superb gala dinner, which we had pre-arranged, towards the end of our visit. The bedrooms are all different in size but everyone seemed very happy with the quality of the furnishings and the overall cleanliness. However, it was the friendliness and helpfulness of all the staff which really made our holiday go with a swing and Mike the manager was a legend! With its extremely convenient situation opposite the main Railway station and Hop on / Hop off bus stops more or less outside the door we thoroughly enjoyed all of the tours, as well as the river and canal side walking and sightseeing that his beautiful city has to offer. We can thoroughly recommend this lovely Hotel and hope very much to return in the future.

TripAdvisor – October 2018

2 day spa break

We booked a 2 night package at The Royal which included breakfast, 2 hours at The Thermae Spa and an afternoon champagne cream tea. We also booked an evening meal in advance taking advantage of the reduced rate if we did. All the food was excellent quality. All the staff were welcoming and friendly and helped with any questions we had. The room was comfortable. All the city centre attractions were within walking distance. It was a bonus being able to book a designated parking space which you had to pay for. The cost of the package was excellent value I would be happy to return.

TripAdvisor – October 2018

Overnight stay with breakfast

Our favourite hotel whilst in Bath. Welcoming and convenient as just opposite the station. Has luggage store. Lovely breakfast especially the ginger-flavoured fruit. Tea with real tea-leaves. Later, after checking out, had a quick pot of tea in the cosy lounge whilst waiting for our train.

TripAdvisor – September 2018

Pleasant stay

Hotel is in a great location. The breakfast was lovely as were the staff. Tim and Millie were really helpful they gave us great recommendations on where to eat. We highly recommended a trip to Bath. A beautiful city.

TripAdvisor – September 2018

Great location, EXCELLENT staff and customer service

The Royal Hotel is a really nice vintage hotel- great charm and character, at a great location within walking distance for all there is to see in Bath. Zoe and the entire staff were extremely accommodating- could not have had any better customer service. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.

TripAdvisor – September 2018

A great place to meet for a reunion or for a weekend in Bath

The Royal stands opposite the station so is easily accessible for those travelling by rail and it is an easy walk to places of interest in Bath or to take a river trip. Considering its central position it is not a noisy hotel and is easily accessible with a lift. Breakfasts are cooked to order and unless you want to find alternative places to dine, then the Dinner menu is recommended

TripAdvisor – September 2018

Great hotel

Very convenient location, particularly for train travel and access to the city centre. Extremely lovely, helpful staff. Good sized, clean rooms. Great restaurant (breakfast and dinner taken on this visit for 5 adults with various dietary requirements). Highly recommended – will definitely visit again!

TripAdvisor – September 2018

Third visit for us

We have stayed before and will be back again. Staff lovely. Bedrooms spotless. Got a brilliant deal for Sunday stay. Including breakfast and amazing three course meal in evening. Hotel is perfect walking distance to town but away from busy noisy parts. We will be back again.

TripAdvisor – September 2018

Great location, nice hotel.

Clean well equipped rooms with tea and coffee making facilities including a cafetiere with ground coffee. Friendly helpful staff and really good food. The breakfast menu offers an excellent choice. Drinks reasonably priced.

TripAdvisor – September 2018

Fabulous location for Bath stay

We couldn’t fault the Royal during our 2 night visit. We travelled by train so the location was perfect for the journey and also exploring Bath itself. We were greeted by a friendly and helpful member of staff. The four-poster room was stunning and the facilities very good, including a wide variety of teas and coffee. Although we were at the front of the hotel the outside noise wasn’t an issue for us. The first evening, after a lovely walk in and around Bath, we decided to stay in the 1846 bar to enjoy the 2 for 1 cocktail offer and bar food which was reasonably priced and delicious (fish finger baguette and burger). The second evening we wished to dine in the Brasserie Brunel and were advised to book and were very glad we did as saw others being turned away. The meal was lovely (salmon for me and steak for my partner) and the service was excellent. Overall the food at The Royal was faultless and the varied breakfast menu was wonderful, especially for us veggies where choice can be limited. Wish we could have stayed a week so all dishes could be sampled. We spent two fabulous days in Bath, where the hotel is ideally located to visit the main attractions and also take leisurely walks along the river/canal. A 50th birthday I won’t forget and we can’t wait to return. PS a bottle of bubbly was arranged for our room after a phone call from my mother-in-law which was a lovely surprise

TripAdvisor – September 2018

Spa break

Just returned from a 2 night Spa Package at The Royal. The Hotel is right opposite the train station and has 6 car parking spaces available to book which we did at £8.50 per 24 hours. The Hotel is wonderful, with lots of great features and creaky floors, all the staff were friendly and welcoming. Our room 201 was lovely, the room was at the back of the hotel with a really large bathroom. Housekeeping had left chocolates on our bed for my husbands birthday which was a special touch. We ate in the hotel restaurant on our first night and the food was great. Lots of choice and cooked to perfection. We had Thermae Bath tickets included in the package which we did and on our return to the hotel enjoyed a cream scone and a glass of champagne. Happy hour cocktails in the bar from 5pm were really good too. Breakfast was plentiful again with a good selection. I loved the Hotel location and it was in walking distance to all the sites, shops, bars and restaurants. We will definitely be returning. Thank you

TripAdvisor – August 2018

Can’t go wrong

Great place to stay right across the road from train station. Really welcoming staff and lovely room. Was larger than expected with big bathroom. Had evening meal in restaurant which was really nice. Lots of choice and left us alone to enjoy our meal. Breakfast the next morning was plentiful you could not go hungry that’s for sure. All in all can’t fault this hotel & will definitely return soon

TripAdvisor – August 2018

Lovely hotel

Great room, Great breakfast, amazing staff here for my 10th wedding anniversary asked for a couple of extras and nothing was too much trouble!! Cleaning of the room was 2nd to none!! Will come back very soon!!!!

TripAdvisor – August 2018

End of Cotswold Way perfection

From the initial booking phone call, to the final checkout, the staff were all extremely helpful and polite, however busy it got. The room was just what we were looking for with a bath to rest weary limbs. The bistro offer for guests was also very welcome and worth every penny. As for location, there are none closer to the rail and bus links and with mere seconds walks to the main town access also. All in all a great short stay in a very well managed hotel.

TripAdvisor – August 2018

Royal Hotel Bath

Lovely historic building in the heart of Bath. Staff were extremity helpful and friendly, with great advice on where to visit and how to get there, reception especially during our check-in had time to explain everything to us. Great selection for breakfast also.

TripAdvisor – July 2018

Gorgeous historical hotel

Recently stayed at this lovely listed building hotel, designed by Brunel. All staff are helpful and friendly, plus have a lot of knowledge of where to visit. The rooms are immaculate and comfortable. Tea and coffee available in the rooms, including ground coffee if you want fresh coffee. The breakfast is made to order and has a full range of options to choose from and is delicious. The hop on, hop off us is less than a minute away and you can walk to the Roman Baths/Pump Rooms in less than 10mins. Love this hotel and will be back.

TripAdvisor – June 2018

Amazing service!!!

I visited your hotel on 25th of June with a friend! We had fish and chips and drinks at the bar! Food was delicious and congratulations to the lovely young Greek lady at the bar, who was pleasant and gave us the best experience of customer service we ever had! Thank you and we’ll definitely come back!

TripAdvisor – June 2018

5-day break in Bath in May

The Royal Hotel is perfectly located for a visit to Bath. It’s literally opposite the railway station, and only a short walk to the centre of the city. The hotel staff were welcoming from the minute we walked in, and remained so for the whole of our stay. Any enquiries were dealt with promptly and efficiently, and everyone was friendly and very helpful, especially the lovely Tim, who went out of his way to ensure we had a great time. We ate twice in the Brasserie Brunel and greatly enjoyed the meals. Excellent value and a lovely break!

TripAdvisor – June 2018

Great 2 night stay.

This is an Ideal location for visiting Bath. Close to the bus station, over the road from the train station. Pretty much city centre. Friendly staff, good choice of tasty food at breakfast. Very clean and comfortable room.

TripAdvisor – June 2018

Visit both with old friend, group of women friends and trip with elderly mother!

Excellent value and friendly and attentive staff. Right opposite station which is very useful. Walking distance to all sights etc. The food in the restaurant is both delicious and plentiful and the breakfasts don’t leave you hungry either! Go while you can!

TripAdvisor – June 2018

Very convenient location, fitted the bill!

Stayed here for one night and chose it for two reasons; one it’s location opposite train station and price for a triple room as visiting with my two daughters and wanted to share a room. We found it suited us well. It was the hottest day of the year so far but we had a room that faced an internal courtyard and was cool. We had comfortable beds and good sized bathroom. Ironing board, hairdryer etc a TV that was not too large and bottled water in room. Breakfast was efficient & friendly and there was a good choice. We all enjoyed the vegetarian option. Check out was 11 a.m. – a handy time if you are catching a train. We were close to the river and park – in fact location was perfect. We had a 5 minute walk to the Theatre. This hotel is good value and an ideal base for exploring Bath.

TripAdvisor – May 2018

Highly recommended – friendly and comfortable Hotel in good location

We recently enjoyed a short stay at the Royal Hotel choosing to return after having stayed there on a previous occasion. The whole staff team were very friendly, helpful, professional and clearly good at what they do. The breakfast was very good – choice and quality, and service amazing. The room – a superior twin on this occasion was very good – comfortable, clean, well organised with good decoration. Hot water – for shower / bath readily available – dressing gowns and slippers were very appreciated. Room management staff replaced towels and consumables efficiently without the need to ask. Location excellent for stepping into the heart of the City! Wouldn’t consider staying anywhere else now when we visit Bath …. which we will be doing before too long.

TripAdvisor – May 2018

Great location

We stayed in a small room with a comfortable bed. The location was great and only a short walk from the train station. (Literally across the road!)
The hotel staff were friendly and accommodating. They were happy to hold our bags prior to our check in and after we had checked out too. The breakfast was great too! I like that you can choose any of the hot menu options and have the continental breakfast as well.

TripAdvisor – May 2018

Fabulous stay, made special by the wonderful staff.

A lovely quirky hotel, centrally located. During a ladies get away we made completely welcome by Mike and Tim on reception. However, throughout the stay every single member of staff encountered we’re welcoming, friendly and warm. The food was great and we are looking forward to returning for our third visit to this charming hotel.

TripAdvisor – May 2018

Great Hotel for City Break

The Royal Bath Hotel has a lovely friendly atmosphere and the staff are very helpful. It is conveniently placed for transport and is in easy walking distance to all of Bath’s attractions. The food is delicious and reasonably priced. The hotel has retained its historic character. I would recommend it.

TripAdvisor – May 2018

Stayed here for birthday celebration around Bath

Lovely hotel. Staff were really helpful from making the booking through to checking out and giving directions of places/bars to visit. location was really good and being opposite the train station was perfect to drop luggage straight off. We were able to also leave luggage at hotel so we could make the most of the last day before heading back on train. Room was lovely and the bed was extremely comfortable. We were running late to get ready for night out so was able to call reception to order food using the room menu and they called us when the food was ready in the restaurant. Highly recommend staying at this hotel.

TripAdvisor – May 2018

WOW!!! Amazing!

I bought a deal on Wowcher for 2 nights stay, breakfast both mornings, champagne, bottle of wine & dinner both nights, and cream tea, and was a bit unsure what to expect. I thought for the price I paid it might be a bit average, but cannot fault this hotel or deal in the slightest! From the moment we arrived the staff were more than happy to help. We were able to park our car earlier than originally stated, and had a bath in the room as requested! The room was really nice and had a variety of teas and coffee, as well as bottled water. The bathroom was also really big with all toiletries you needed. We had dinner included both nights and was shocked that you could have any 3 courses on the whole a la carte menu, including the grill (we expected a set menu) and also got a choice of bottle of wine. As well as this we got a glass of champagne when we sat down! I had different food both nights and it was delicious! The breakfast was the same, literally the biggest choice of hot food, pastries, cereals, fruit etc. the restaurant staff were also really helpful! The cream tea was also a lovely treat. The location of the hotel is just perfect, it is more or less on top of the station, and about a 3 minute walk into the centre (by the Roman baths) Honestly recommend this hotel to anyone, amazing, could not fault it at all!! Really made our stay!

TripAdvisor – May 2018

Our 2nd brilliant stay!

Our overnight stay here was as brilliant as it was back in November 2017. We love this hotel for these reasons, Amazing food and waiter service, comfy beds, very clean hotel, lovely staff, private parking and brilliant location to the town ( 5 min walk ).

TripAdvisor – May 2018

A very enjoyable stay.

This was my first stay and I chose it because of being so convenient for the railway station however it turned out to be a very good choice for other reasons. The staff were all extremely welcoming – the room was very comfortable and clean – breakfast and dinner most enjoyable and of a very good quality. This will now be my choice of hotel for my visits to Bath.

TripAdvisor – April 2018

Great Value

Our stay here was fab from start to finish, Reception staff welcoming and informative , room good size and decor and cleanliness good, very warm, as it was cold outside. The dinner deal was great value, and menu well thought out and good delicious, waiters very friendly and professional. The bar prices were reasonable. All in all enjoyed our stay here, and Bath good for weekend break.

Conveniently placed opposite Bath Spa station, yet the room was quiet. All of Bath’s attractions were within easy walking distance. The Special dinner, bed and breakfast deal was very good value, with delicious meals in its charming restaurant. The staff were very efficient and most accommodating – nothing was too much trouble. We would recommend visiting this hotel and plan to do so again.

TripAdvisor – April 2018

Really enjoyed our stay.

Travelled by train and hotel right opposite station so no taxi needed! Staff all very helpful, left bags in morning before afternoon check in. Food and dining room staff as good as any 4* hotel we have stayed in. A few minutes walk to the Baths old and new and the Pump Room, would certainly stay again, many thanks Royal.

TripAdvisor – April 2018

Warm, friendly and efficient staff. Great value

I can’t praise the Royal Hotel highly enough. My friend and I stayed for two nights on a Wowcher deal. The location is so convenient for the train station and the city centre and the hotel is charming and very comfortable. The dinners were truly outstanding but the best selling point for the hotel has to be the wonderful staff. The welcome is so genuinely warm and friendly and nothing is too much bother – they were all pleasant and chatty and it meant that rather than just being a place to sleep during out city break, the hotel became an integral part of a lovely break. Thank you to everyone working there and you should be very proud of the great service you provide. We look forward to a return visit.

TripAdvisor – April 2018

Two night deal.

Absolutely fantastic. It is the staff that make this such a good place to stay. They are friendly, helpful and have a great sense of humour. The rooms are decorated in keeping with the historic hotel, the food is good with a varied menu and the location is perfect for a visit to the city of Bath.

TripAdvisor – April 2018

Brunel’s very own hotel, so designed by the best.

Stayed at the Royal Hotel for a long weekend. My friend and I arrived by train and the hotel is directly across the road from Bath Spa Railway Station, so no car necessary for our visit. The hotel is in the town centre and you only have to walk a few yards to get to all the necessary attractions to enjoy the Bath experience. I would recommend this hotel for it’s central location, comfortable rooms and friendly staff.

TripAdvisor – April 2018

Staff are 10/12

I recently visited with my sister for a weekend and we were both thrilled with the customer service we received. We spent a large amount of our visit exploring Bath however every time we returned for the hotel we were greeted by Seb in the bar, who was 10/10, he was so easy to talk to and made us feel like were with friends. We chatted to him before and after our meal and he even gave us a big hug and wished us safe travels before we left!! We also loved chatted to Millie and Tim on reception. I cannot begin to explain how much we loved the staff here! We will definitely be returning asap!!

Our evening meal was wonderful. There will definitely be many more stays there in the future.

We visit Bath 2/3 times a year, for a few days, and always go to the Royal. It is perfectly situated for all that Bath has to offer, and is a great place to spend some quality time. You always get a warm welcome; all the staff, without exception, are very friendly and efficient. The restaurant offers a varied menu, with excellent food.

It was great to walk out of the train station and straight into the hotel after a tiring journey. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The room we stayed in was very spacious, clean and bright. The bed was very comfortable and clean. The room had clothes press, hair dryer and the kettle came with a variety of fruit teas, tea, coffee, decaf coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits. Our room even had a fruit basket. The dinner room was bright and clean. The meals where amazing with a wide choice and the waiting staff are first class. In fact all the staff are first class and very helpful and full of advice from where to visit. The whole stay was amazing and we can’t wait to book again. We didn’t want to leave

TripAdvisor – March 2018

Wow. Just Wow!!!

Everything about our visit to this lovely hotel was perfect, from calling the hotel to book dinner, to our actual stay. I booked this stay through a Wowcher deal and figured it was one of those ‘too good to be true’ offers. Before arrival, I called the hotel to book a table for dinner and was helped by the lovely Tim. Nothing was too much trouble and he was an absolute credit to the hotel. Some of the best customer service in have ever encountered. I emailed to ask about parking, and the lovely Heidi emailed back to say she had reserved a parking space – again, what fantastic service!!! We arrived and had been upgraded- Tim was on reception and he was just brilliant!! We had our lovely cream tea (delicious!!) Went out for a little explore of Bath, then came back to check in. Our room was just lovely. The decor was traditional and everything was spotless (Twinnings tea bags in the room – win!!) We had our dinner in the gorgeous restaurant and the waitress was brilliant. My husband makes the worst jokes and she even laughed at them (or him, I’m not sure!!!!) The food was delicious – I have to thoroughly recommend the Eton mess – OMG it was GOOD!!! Breakfast was also spot on and really set us up for the Day!!! I stay away for work a lot and it is so rare to encounter the kind of service we have had during our stay. Even the fact we had booked a deal through Wowcher made no difference to how we were treated at all. Cannot recommend the Royal Hotel enough – amazing staff, food and everything!! Keep up the good work and we will definitely be back!!!

Perfect period hotel

Stayed on a Sunday, great booking experience with a superb meal. The reception staff and the waiting team were very friendly and made this a great experience. Had a veggie meal at the hotel and it was lovely – hotel has clearly decides to stay with its period look rather than modernising like so many bland hotels and this works in its favour. Would definitely stay again. Thank you for a great experience

Visit to Bath

Last week my friend and I stayed at the Royal Hotel on a Living Social deal. The staff were brilliant from day one. Our room was really well presented. Very clean and lovely decor. Food was really very tasty and well presented. Lovely puddings. I would definitely recommend this hotel . Handy for everywhere.

TripAdvisor – March 2018

From start to finish the staff were wonderful and the manager even helped us dig our car out of the car park this morning! Restaurant staff both at dinner & breakfast were very attentive & helpful as were the receptionists. Food was lovely, great selection & very hot. The snow unfortunately limited our exploration of the lovely City of Bath & our cream tea at the hotel but as Arnie says “I’ll be back” lol and we will definitely be booking The Royal for our stay. Many thanks

Excellent service and food

We were stranded by the rail system; after travelling for 48 hours from Gatwick (to Westbury), we managed to get as far as Bath to be told no chance/prospect of a train home so we took a room at the Royal. A smile and a courteous welcome cheered us up. Empathy for our situation was refreshing after misinformation and indifference from railway staff. Lovely greeting & service from the barman, great food service & a lovely meal at a reasonable price. Room value pretty good for Bath too.

TripAdvisor – March 2018

Ideal location for the best of Bath

Adjacent to the Railway station, this hotel is ideally positioned or the short term visitor to Bath. The open top bus stops almost outside and it is a short walk to the Roman Baths and the main shopping area. The service was excellent the room was attractive and comfortable. We had dinner there on two consecutive nights and was very pleased the whole experience was positive and we will return

TripAdvisor – March 2018

Birthday treat

What an excellent Birthday stay on all counts. This was our first visit to this hotel and will certainly not be our last. Our room was very nice, spotlessly clean and warm. Afternoon tea enjoyed by us both, leaving room for our superb dinner in the evening. The menu choice was excellent and staff just made us feel so special. Our breakfast was equally as good, completing our perfect overnight stay.

TripAdvisor – February 2018

Superb service and food at a realistic price

We normally have four or five short breaks in different hotels every year, and thought the Royal Hotel in Bath was really excellent. We expected to find a traditional but slightly run down Victorian hotel but in fact the rooms and facilities were in very good decorative order. The staff were without exception professional and very friendly and we were made to feel extremely welcome. Our room was very comfortable and well-equipped. We were on the third (top) floor and perhaps the only downside was the size of the lift, which only took two people at a time. The quality of the food was very good indeed, and there was a good choice on the menu. There is limited parking at the hotel but there is a public car park a couple of minutes away where parking is £12.50 for 12 hours. However, we had no problem offloading our luggage outside and then parking the car. The hotel is opposite Bath Spa Station and just a five minute walk from the Abbey and Roman Baths. We shall certainly be paying another visit.

TripAdvisor – February 2018

Central Location excellent for exploring Bath

From the time we checked in to checking out our experience at this Hotel was very good.
The receptionist was very welcoming and helpful and explained how to find the hotel car park which we had booked (just 6 spaces available). Our room (309) was spacious and well appointed with a sofa and two chairs as well as the double bed. The wardrobe had plenty of coat hangers and there was lots of drawer space. Plenty of tea, coffee, milk etc, all replenished daily along with a bottle of water. The bathroom was quite large with a bath and shower over it, nice quality toiletries and the welcome bonus of bathrobes and slippers. The menu at dinner offered a good choice and the food was hot and good quality, it was the same at breakfast. We did have a bar meal for lunch one day and that was good too. All the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful we felt “nothing would be too much trouble”. It was my wife’s birthday while we were staying here and when we got back to our room in the afternoon the Housekeeping staff had spelt HB with chocolates in foil on the bed. We are well travelled both in this country and Europe and we considered this hotel was very good value for money and unlike some other reviewers we felt the standard of service was good.

TripAdvisor – February 2018

Staff are truly an asset to this hotel!

I am not usually one for leaving reviews however I just had to about our weekend in Bath!! First of all the city and the hotel are beautiful, such a nice classic hotel with a warm feel to it. Throughout our stay the staff we’re wonderful and charming (so rare to see now). I would like to point our two members of staff in particular first of is receptionist Millie/Milly (not sure, soz lol) she was so wonderful on check in and so polite and nice, just what we needed after the journey, and every time we can downstairs she greeted us with a smiling face and asked how we were. she is truly a wonderful young lady who will go far! The other staff is the bartender Seb, he treated us like we had known each other for years he felt like a true friend making us laugh and having private jokes with us, amazing customer service, another who I’m sure will go far. An incredible weekend, thank you to everyone at this hotel I am sure to see you soon.

TripAdvisor – February 2018

Excellent visit

This will be my 3 visit this time with my husband, we had a fantastic deal which included 2 night bed and breakfast and 3 course meal each night. Service was fantastic everyone was helpful and attentive room was clean. Food was beautiful both dinner and breakfast. I have already booked again for later in the year with my friends for a spa break.

TripAdvisor – February 2018

Great location great hotel

We stop here for a couple of nights for my wife birthday, right across from the station, right next door to the shopping centre. Short walk to the cathedral. The hotel is very welcoming and the staff really want to make your stay an experience. The rooms are clean and bright the restaurant meals are excellent value for money, we will be stopping again. Try the cocktail menu.

TripAdvisor – February 2018

Excellent hotel

We loved this hotel. We managed to get a very good 2 night stay half board and more. The staff were amazing, the room was clean and very comfortable. The food was delicious. We will definitely return.

Our engagement

We have just returned from a 2 night stay and had a fabulous stay. Staff are excellent – friendly and professional. Food – both breakfast and dinner was great – great selection and so tasty! We got engaged today and can honestly say our short stay made this a wonderful memory! Clean room with all needs catered for. The only thing that let it down was the weather! Thank you to all staff at the Royal Hotel especially James in the restaurant. We’ll be back!!

TripAdvisor – February 2018

Yet another excellent stay

Have just returned home after another excellent stay at The Royal. I requested Room103 and we got it. I’ve reviewed this room before and everything was as good as before. Nice clean room , good size. Comfortable bed big bathroom with shower, good size TV. The room was tastefully decorated and was very clean. The Royal is ideally situated for all attractions and shops. The bus station is just down the road about 1 minutes walk and the train station is across the road. The bar is well stocked and nice to sit in and relax. The dining room very neat and clean. The breakfasts are delicious. We didn’t have Lunch or Dinner in the Hotel because we were out all day. We have had Dinner in the Hotel on a previous visit and the food is excellent. There are stairs or a lift you can use for access to all floors. I noticed how clean and fresh the Hotel smelt, Another point in its favour. Finally a huge thank you to all the staff for making our stay a thoroughly enjoyable experience. They are all polite, friendly and welcoming and smartly dressed. Nothing was too much trouble for them. My wife, Gwen and I look forward to visiting Bath again and we will definitely stay at the Royal again

TripAdvisor – February 2018

Overnight stay

We had a very enjoyable stay at the Royal Hotel. Great value for money via an online deal. Staff were very friendly and attentive, food was excellent . Great location with train station just over the road and if you’re there to see the town of Bath the sightseeing bus stops right outside. Even though you have all this going on so close to the hotel the rooms are quiet . Would highly recommend a stay here

TripAdvisor – February 2018

Birthday treat for Mum

Just spent a night here with Travelzoo deal. Great value for money. Had a nice cream tea for lunch and excellent evening meal with champagne. Staff were all very friendly and efficient. Great location and with parking being a bonus

TripAdvisor – February 2018

2 nights Travelzoo offer.

Have travelled the world but this hotel has the most friendliest, efficient and enthusiastic staff my wife and I have ever encountered. Can’t fault the service we received. Great location, comfortable room, bathroom probably due an upgrade soon but other than that can’t fault our stay.

TripAdvisor – February 2018

Wonderful stay

Stayed 4/2/18 on a Travelzoo package which included cream tea, 3 course dinner with a glass of champagne and breakfast the following morning. On arrival our room wasn’t ready but we were taken to the bar and given complimentary drinks of our choice and was then upgraded to a lovely large, light room at the front of the hotel. The room was lovely with a four poster bed, lovely linen, fresh fruit, water with lots of tea and coffee. The TV had Netflix available and there is free internet. The bathroom was well equipped, immaculately clean with plentiful hot water. The staff are very nice, helpful and professional. The food was excellent. 2 scones each with the cream tea, full access to everything on the menu at dinner (perfectly cooked 10oz Sirloin steak) and a great breakfast selection. The hotel is directly by the shopping centre, a few minutes from the Abby and Roman Baths and about 10 minutes to the Crescent. Parking is limited at the hotel so advise you to book it when you book the hotel. If not, there is a car park near the hotel although it is expensive. Our only disappointment was that we hadn’t booked to stay for extra nights. Highly recommend.

TripAdvisor – February 2018

Well run with friendly staff

We stayed in an upgraded room via a Wowcher package with a cream tea and evening meal. The Royal is a Victorian hotel with décor and furnishings to match. Like most hotels of this age has a very small lift. The room was of a good size and very clean. The staff was very friendly and the food was superb. Very close to the station and shopping centre.

TripAdvisor – February 2018

Birthday getaway

We arrived on my birthday 31st January, we had a lovely two nights stay at the hotel, the staff were very friendly and helpful, my husband is in a wheelchair and they did all they could to help us, the food was excellent and so was the service. The location of the hotel is great close to shops and Roman baths well worth a visit and so was the Abbey, when we visit Bath again will definitely be staying at the Royal hotel.

TripAdvisor – February 2018

Lovely

Lovely hotel right in the town centre, comfortable rooms and really nice staff. The breakfast was amazing lots of choice and really tasty, very satisfied with our visit will definitely come again when in the area.

Romantic weekend break

Fantastic hotel. Staff very friendly and helpful. Food very good, excellent service. Room and bed very comfortable. Location very convenient, right opposite the train station and just a short walk to the town centre and the Thermae spa. Afternoon tea was lovely 2 hot scones each with jam and butter yum. Highly recommend. Very competitively priced.

TripAdvisor – January 2018

Cozy in style

Really lovely place! And lovely staff! Heidi at reception is just perfect! Sweet and kind; she gave us a warm welcome! Always smiling and asking how our day was! The hotel has an excellent location from train station, and to Paradise garden. The rooms are a lovely British style, and that was what we were looking for. Thank you very much!

TripAdvisor – January 2018

Lovely hotel

Stayed one night at this hotel in January 2018 with my daughter. Our room was very spacious with a gorgeous en-suite bathroom. We had a three course meal at the hotel in the evening which was delicious. The staff were very friendly, helpful and attentive. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

TripAdvisor – January 2018

Visiting Bath

The hotel is centrally placed right opposite the train station and you couldn’t be closer to the Shops, so close we could keep taking our shopping back :). You are also a stones throw from the Roman Baths, Abbey and Sally Lunn’s. Rooms have everything you could need including tea and coffee facilities. The staff could not do enough for you from the moment you arrived to the moment you left.

TripAdvisor – January 2018

Very enjoyable stay

My first impression of the hotel was formed on the telephone. I made several phone calls to reception and on each occasion my query was dealt with friendliness and efficiency so it was no surprise when on arrival at the Royal we received a warm welcome. Our stay was very pleasant, room comfortable and quiet, food (breakfast, bar lunch and dinner) was very good and the bar made a nice place to sit and chat to friends. All the staff were extremely helpful and all seemed to enjoy their job. We were glad to have taken advantage of the hotel car park.

TripAdvisor – January 2018

The customary warm welcome at the Royal

A solidly run hotel, which does an old fashioned job very well indeed, friendly staff, good food, and remarkable value in an expensive town. The Royal is at the opposite end of the scale from hip new boutique hotels – but it always has that unmistakable air of a place full of people very happy at their choice, many of them serial returners. It also now has very good wifi.

TripAdvisor – January 2018

Excellent service and food

Just returned from a wonderful stay at the Royal Hotel Bath. We were made very welcome and the evening meal was excellent. Even though we had a special deal it made no difference to the food we ate and the accommodation we were given. Jen and I will make every effort to return in 2018. Staff excellent and kind.

TripAdvisor – December 2017

Faultless

We stayed for a two day break and enjoyed our time there very much. Little things added to our enjoyment, like the proper coffee on the bedroom drinks tray, and loose leaf tea with breakfast. Our room was comfortable, and clean, with everything that we required. We found the staff a joy. Nothing as too much trouble, and they all looked as if they were enjoying their jobs. We ate dinner in the restaurant on both nights, and thoroughly enjoyed our meals and the wine. Breakfast was also good, with freshly prepared hot food. I would thoroughly recommend the hotel, and will probably pay another visit.

TripAdvisor – December 2017

Warm and welcoming traditional hotel in a fantastic location.

If you are travelling by train this hotel is perfect, as it is just across the road from the station. They have a left luggage room so you can pick up your case on your way back to the station. Our room was comfortable, warm and clean. We stayed on a dinner, bed and breakfast rate and it was good value. Both dinner and breakfast were very nice. The rib eye steak was absolutely superb. The wine was very reasonably priced. The staff were friendly and helpful. We were very happy with our stay and recommend the Royal Hotel.

TripAdvisor – December 2017

Still a lovely hotel

I stayed here two years ago to attend the Bath Christmas market and gave this hotel a favorable review. It is just as wonderful, if not more so, and the staff is courteous and extremely helpful. It is my go-to place to stay in Bath.

TripAdvisor – December 2017

Christmas/Anniversary break

Just back from a lovely couple of days staying on a xmas markets break at the Royal hotel arrived to a very friendly welcome and staff had remembered it was an anniversary break too for us with chocolates in our room. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay the food was exceptional the staff extremely helpful and lovely Bath itself is a very beautiful place to visit and we will definitely return

TripAdvisor – December 2017

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay

This is a great location to visit the Christmas market. We arrived a couple of hours early but the receptionist was very helpful and locked our luggage away for us. Parking is restricted so I would recommend contacting the hotel before your visit and reserving a space – excellent value for £8 a day. The hotel is very comfortable and we had a lovely room. Don’t be put off being opposite the railway station – our room was at the front and we were not disturbed at all. We all enjoyed the restaurant. The menu offered plenty of choice and was complimented by a good wine list – the lamb was superb washed down with a very nice Malbec. We don’t often visit Bath but next time we do I would not hesitate to stay here again – thank you.

TripAdvisor – December 2017

Bath Christmas Markets

Hotel staff were very friendly and accommodating. We were able to safely store our bags until our rooms were ready. It’s opposite Bath Spa railway station and five minutes fro the centre of Bath. The evening meal in Brunel Brasserie was wonderful and very good value. Excellent choice of continental buffet, cereal, fruit, and a varied menu of cooked breakfast available in the morning. We were able to leave our bags again until it was time for our train. All rooms en suite and rooms are decorated to reflect the age of the building. Would happily stay again.

TripAdvisor – December 2017

Ideal hotel in central Bath

This was our third and longest stay at the Royal (three nights). We acquired a loyalty card on our previous visit which gave us a discount this time. We booked the Classic Spa Package but for three nights instead of the normal two, which did mean the room rate was little higher, but for a bed in Bath city centre during the Christmas Market it was great value. Our package included a comfortable room with real coffee among the in-room refreshments, an excellent breakfast with hot items cooked to order and cold items available from the buffet, tickets for the Thermae Bath Spa and a Champagne cream tea. We had the cream tea on the afternoon we arrived and it was a lovely start to a relaxing holiday. The staff here are really friendly and helpful. For example we arrived early and could not check in as our room was not ready (they’d have let us in if it had been) and without being asked they offered to take our luggage so that we could come back later without having to take it with us. Nothing seemed too much trouble during our entire stay. This is a city centre hotel overlooking the railway station and yet we had no difficulty with noise and had three great nights’ sleep. It could not be handier for the rail station or, if you need them, local bus services. I like that it is a traditional hotel but with modern conveniences and I like the bustle of the bar which is clearly used by people after work and/or with time to spare before their trains. A decent range of cocktails is available and we enjoyed a couple of seasonal cocktails after our evening visit to the spa. After all these stays we still have not yet tried the restaurant at the hotel, other than for breakfast, so a review of that will have to wait for the next visit!

TripAdvisor – December 2017

Ideal location for Christmas market

Excellent location, directly across the road from railway station. Our third visit to this old but charming hotel. Room was very spacious and very clean. The dining room is very pleasant. Breakfast menu is good with a excellent evening dinner menu. Staff in the dining room are very friendly. The reception staff make you feel very welcome.

Fabulous Classic Spa Break

This hotel is great. Fantastic history attached to it. The location is central and near the station. The open top tour bus stops outside. We opted for the classic spa break which was excellent value. Superior rooms excellent, even included ground coffee. Lovely bedding. towels and comfy beds. Food in the restaurant very good, evening meal and breakfast good quality. we will definitely be back……. highly recommended

Wonderful!!

My wife and I had a 2 night break and loved every minute. The staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. The reception manager deserves a special thank you and the bar and restaurant staff. We stayed in a four poster bed room which was very clean and had all we needed for a great stay. We had a breakfast and evening meal package and the food was beautiful (pea risotto and steak were magic). Being right in the city, we had everything at our fingertips. Altogether a truly wonderful weekend!! We can’t wait to visit Bath again and would not hesitate to stay at The Royal again. Perfect.

Mid week break

Just returned from 2 night break using wowcher deal which included cream tea, champagne and bottle of wine with dinner and full English breakfast. Fabulous stay we upgraded to four poster and paid extra to park car. Staff were polite and courteous at all times. We really enjoyed the food both in the evening and the cooked breakfast . We will be back ! Well done Mike , Heidi and the team.

Two night midweek break

Stayed on Wowcher deal and it was very good value for money. All the staff were very friendly and made our stay very enjoyable. Food was good and plenty of choice. Travelled by train so location opposite the train station was very handy. Walked around all sites and even around the canal path after talking to the receptionist. Room comfortable and clean with usual tea coffee and toiletries. Would definitely return. Thanks for a lovely experience.

Booked via a wowcher voucher as wanted to spend some time exploring Bath. Great deal with breakfast and evening meal plus bottle of wine each night! Great location for exploring Bath. Really welcoming reception and this set the tone for visit as all staff were friendly and helpful – a refreshing change. Food was really good and plenty of choice for all three courses – sipping complimentary champagne whilst choosing evening meal, the icing on the cake . Comfy and clean – would definitely return

A MUST NEEDED BREAK

My husband and I are regular visitors to the Royal in Bath. Using the Loyalty card has been great for us. It’s certainly value for money. The building is old but that is part of its charm. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The staff are very welcoming and professional. The location of the hotel is perfect for shoppers and the many attractions that Bath has to offer. The food is beautifully and lovingly prepared. You can book a parking space when booking over the phone. The spaces are limited, so if you book well in advance the chance is you will secure a car space. It’s close to the train and bus station. Tour buses are adjacent to the hotel. I can highly recommend this hotel to anyone thinking of staying.

TripAdvisor – November 2017

Staying at the Royal on the 12th 13th November

We used a wowcher deal for the first time so didn’t expect too much !! Wow we were really surprised. We arrived early by train and the hotel was opposite no wandering around looking for it. Reception were great looking after our luggage while we explored Bath. They were welcoming and very helpful. We came back in the afternoon for our cream tea, Lovely!!! and booked in. Our room was clean and fresh with a great hostess tray and the bed was like sleeping at home. Dinner again was amazing, there was nothing on the menu we couldn’t have. All courses were enjoyed by my husband and myself along with a glass of champagne and a great bottle of wine. We felt really spoilt. Then the next morning breakfast!!! A truly award winning breakfast that you would expect in a five star hotel and not necessarily would get. All the staff were attentive without being intrusive and very pleasant.
We would recommend this hotel highly and will certainly be back and for a longer stay now we know how good it is and so convenient to the centre of Bath.

We had a two day Leisure break which is excellent value for money. The hotel is opposite the train and bus station and ideally placed within a couple of minutes walk to the shopping centre, Abbey and Roman Baths etc. From the moment we arrived we were greeted by very friendly helpful staff who treated us like friends not just guests, I wish other hotels had the same sort of staff ! The room was very comfortable and clean and had everything we needed, plenty of tea and biscuits as well.
Breakfast had a good variety and hot food was cooked to order, while the dinner off the a la carte menu was excellent and included in stay. I cannot fault our stay at all and have no hesitation in recommending The Royal Hotel. A special thank you to All the staff who made it a very enjoyable few days.

Weekend away

It’s our 20th wedding anniversary this year plus a significant birthday and I found this hotel on offer through Wowcher. We loved it. I upgraded to a 4-poster room when I confirmed the booking some weeks ago and all was ready for us. The hotel is central, all of the staff are very welcoming and friendly (such a breath of fresh air). Our room (109) was lovely – huge comfy bed, lots of pillows, great TV, lots of tea/coffee options and huge bathroom with bath and shower. The food was lovely, with lots of menu choices and very flexible. It’s a central location so we could leave cars in the car parks – we parked in the shopping centre one which is ticket less and so easy and not overly expensive. Lovely shops. Lovely abbey – we were there for the armistice service; lovely. We’ll worth a visit and will try to go again, for longer next time.

TripAdvisor – November 2017

Lovely friendly place

Stayed her with a friend for her birthday. Great location as you are right on the edge of town and only a 1 to 2 minute walk and you are in the prescient. The hotel is right next to the train station and the bus station! It is very clean and the rooms are lovely, all you need in a room for a good stay. They do have a lift to get to rooms if you have difficulty walking. The breakfast is great a real variety for food to eat. They also do lunch and evening meals. The main attractions the Abbey and Baths are only a 5-10 minute walk away and if you want to have a boat cruise that is only at the end of the road! Would stay there again

Lovely hotel in ideal situation

Having spent two nights at this hotel, on a special package, can recommend this hotel. Situated by the station, in amongst the shops. The staff were polite and friendly, and the food excellent, with a good selection for dinner and breakfast. Being on a special package we expected our menu choice to be restricted, but we were allowed to select anything ,without paying a supplement. Would certainly return.

We had stayed previously in the Hilton for our Bath spa package break but this place is so much better! Food is amazing, comes out hot and lovely variety – most being gluten free too! Had a cream tea in the deal which was lovely and didn’t matter when you had it. Staff friendly and attentive. Rooms are lovely and decorated nicely. Location is brilliant – just a stones throw from the train station. We are def coming here again!!

We found this package good value for money. Breakfast was very good, staff were helpful from the moment we checked in until we checked out. Great location, just opposite the train/bus station. Good weekend in Bath

We stayed at The Royal Hotel for three nights over the weekend. The hotel is in a very convenient situation opposite the railway station and the bus station. The city centre is within easy walking distance and so are numerous restaurants and cafes. The Royal Hotel is quite an old building designed by Brunel but has been updated for modern purposes. The staff are very pleasant and helpful. The breakfast in the bistro area is very good. We booked for a meal on our first evening there and had the early bird menu which was decent food and good value. Our superior double room on the top floor was roomy and comfortable with a good choice of toiletries, bottled water and tea, coffees etc. We would choose to stay in this hotel if we visited Bath again.

Just got back from Bath after staying at the Royal from 21- 23 Oct. Our room was no 103 on the first floor. The room was clean ,tidy and very tastefully decorated. It was nicely furnished and there was a good sized tv to watch. The bed was comfortable .Both my wife and myself slept well. The bathroom was big and there was a bath and a shower which is not always the case. The staff were polite, friendly ,helpful and welcoming. They were also very smartly dressed. In short a very enjoyable stay once again at this lovely hotel. We will definitely be going back..The location and everything about it is excellent. I will be asking for room 103 again. Thanks to everyone at the Royal for making our stay so enjoyable.

Charming hotel

I picked the hotel due to its location across from the rail station. What a gem. A charming well appointed old hotel. Nice room which cannot long have been decorated, snug bar and a lovely restaurant serving splendid food. Not least the staff who were without exception friendly and helpful. My wife and I will certainly be returning for another stay in the future. Recommended.

A lovely place to stay in the centre of Bath

We arrived for a two night stay to celebrate our wedding anniversary and to see the wonderful sights of Bath. We couldn’t have chosen a more friendly place, so conveniently situated with spotlessly clean rooms and lots of old fashioned charm. The whole hotel appears to have been nicely decorated recently and the bathrooms completely refitted with modern suites, so although the Royal is over 150 years old it doesn’t really show its age other than a few creaking floor boards! The only minor problem is that the lift is very small, and with an awkward staircase for a chap with a walking stick, it was difficult to manoeuvre large suitcases up and down. The Hop on Hop off buses stop directly outside the Hotel and the centre of the city is only a short stroll away with the Railway station just opposite. Although we travelled by car, we didn’t need it at all! It stayed in the small Hotel Car park throughout our visit. The restaurant was first class with delicious breakfasts and a wonderful choice of Menu for dinner offering superb quality and excellent service. The wine list was pretty good as well and not at all expensive when compared to similar establishments. We were so impressed with the Royal Hotel that we are now planning to return next year with a group of friends for a slightly longer holiday. We can highly recommend this accommodation.

Lovely relaxing break

Stayed at this hotel recently, and loved it! Train station just opposite, great central location to everything hotel clean comfy and fab! Staff friendly helpful nothing too much trouble. Had breakfast and dinner in the hotel restaurant and food was hot and tasty. Had a spa break which included spa tickets to the Thermae Spa, and the hotel provided a champagne cream tea in the bar. Everyone from the general manager, duty manager reception and bar staff made you feel welcome, I would return here again, and recommend to everyone. Thanks for such a lovely stay and keep up the good work!!

Very central to main attractions

We recently stayed at the Royal Hotel in Bath for a short mid week break. We chose it for its proximity to the railway station as we were travelling by train, as well as being a short walk from the main attractions in Bath. The hotel is beautifully decorated, very attentive and friendly staff. Room was clean and beds very comfortable. Would definitely recommend to anyone who wants to stay at the Royal Hotel.

Lovely hotel in a great location

We stayed one night in the hotel on 7th September and used it to break up a long journey to the South West. It’s conveniently located for the car park and the station. It’s olde worlde in style, and a warm and friendly feel to it. The staff were polite and friendly and volunteered advice on where to go and to eat. The beds were very comfy and breakfast was delicious. In these days of all-you-can-eat buffets, this was ordered and brought to you table. A much better experience than the scrum of a buffet service. One final thing. I left a bracelet with my grand kids names on it, in my room when I left. Not only did they find it, but they posted it back to my home. Something I was very grateful for and to my shame, didn’t get around to thanking them for afterwards .I hope they read this and accept my thanks. We would definitely book here again when we visit Bath.

Great midweek visit

Just returned from our third visit here and it never disappoints. We were on the Loyalty Special deal which was 2 nights dinner b&b with a cream tea on arrival plus a glass of champagne before dinner and a bottle of wine with the meal. Superb food with no restrictions from the a la carte menu, great choice of wines and a super brasserie atmosphere. The staff here (special mention to Heidi on reception) are so friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble for them. Rooms are what you would expect from a very old 3 star establishment, we love them! Hotel right across from train and bus stations and within a couple of minutes walk to bars restaurants shops and the Spa attractions. If, like us, you like to visit Bath on a regular basis, stay here and join the loyalty scheme which gives you back 10% of your total spend which you can use in the bar or restaurant. Perfect!

The way an old hotel should be!

We came to this hotel as we are interested in Britain’s greatest engineer Brunel..and of course he designed this hotel and the Bath Railway station across the road. So its 170 years old but completely refurbished, very crisp and clean…delightful really. A trip back in time with all the modern conveniences and old fashioned charm. Very attentive staff. Plunger coffee, slippers, bath robes, feather duvets and pillows. Breakfast was delicious in the old dining room. Tell them you need a car space when booking..or you will be sent up the road a bit to the public place.

Our second visit this year having experienced excellent food, hospitality and friendly staff the first time. Once again did not disappoint. Already looking forward to booking in 2018.

“Can’t be more central”

Walk out of the train station and cross the road. This is convenience itself. The bus station is a short stroll away, and there is a healthy plethora of eateries within a few hundred metres. It’s a small place but well kept and neatly appointed. I had a small single room in the first floor but it was ample and had a lovely bath / shower room, and was blissfully quiet for a city centre location. The breakfast was lovely and the service always polite. I’ll be back.

“Wee Break”

Had a lovely 4 night stay at the Royal Hotel Bath. Once again spotless room fantastic breakfast/dinner a delight. Mike you are doing a fantastic job cannot praise all the staff highly enough. Bath is a beautiful city for walking, dining, shopping and just having a relaxing time. Great base for horse racing pundits train station just across the road for numerous race courses cannot wait for our next visit.

“The Royal Hotel,Bath AMAZING HOTEL”

Me and a friend stayed here for 2 nights on a spa break. From the minute we arrived to the moment we left the staff were amazing. Our room was incredible and I could have stayed a whole lot longer! Definitely worth a visit!

“Treated like royalty”

My husband and I stayed at the Royal Hotel for 2 nights in early August: A treat for us as our son was away. From checking in to checking out it was a perfect stay. Staff are unfailingly polite and professional and well trained. We had a full board package and the food was top quality; especially the shoulder of beef and horseradish mash. A very convenient location, with a car park down the road. (we didn’t book a parking space) Champagne was a fiver… delicious! The bed was very comfortable and the room was spotless. Although it’s near the station we didn’t hear traffic at all. Couldn’t fault this hotel and will certainly go back!

“Fantastic”

Yes the stairs creak and the lift is a little small but this is more than made up for by location and importantly staff attitude. Bar is great restaurant food no complaints and breakfast choice excellent. Definitely worth a visit

Lovely hotel

I was surprised how much I loved this hotel . The service was excellent and we had dinner in the restaurant which was very good. Would definitely go back . It is located near the centre so convenient for shops and restaurants but the friendly staff made it special.

TripAdvisor – July 2017

My room was a single so of course smaller but it was a perfect size for one. It was clean, quiet and nicely decorated with real coffee! It is so close to the station and to everything else a visitor wants to see in Bath. The breakfast was tasty with interesting choices. The staff were friendly and helpful. I will return!

Great Location

This is the third time I have stayed here with a party of friends. The location could not be better, convenient for the station, town centre and the spa. The staff are friendly and helpful and the food, breakfast and dinner, excellent. While the rooms are not ultra modern this is in keeping with the age and style of the hotel and part of its charm, everything is spotless and the beds are comfortable. It is very good value and certainly somewhere we would stay again.

TripAdvisor – June 2017

Royal in every way

Can I give this hotel 6 stars instead? Because I would. My flight was severely delayed so I wasn’t arriving until 1am. I emailed them to let them know that I would be late and I had an instant reply (from Candice) who was nothing but lovely and even helped me figure out the bus schedule/station. When I arrived at 1am they were so friendly in making sure I was happy with my room and comfortable. The room was small, but I loved that about it- just enough space for me for one night. The bed was so comfortable, the room spotless, and the views from the window were great. I slept so well! The breakfast was delicious, and there are plenty of options for gluten-free and/or vegetarians/vegans.
It’s right across the street from Bath Spa train station and right at city centre. I want to have this hotel everywhere I travel!

TripAdvisor – June 2017

Ideal location

We have just returned from a three night break at this hotel, and it proved to be in an ideal location for our needs. The room was clean, the staff extremely polite and cheery, in fact they always appeared happy. Thanks for a lovely stay in a beautiful city.

What more can you ask!!

Fabulous Hotel and within steps of the Railway Station yet, just a short walk from the main City Centre and Thermae Spa. Excellent choice of Food and Value for Money, especially if you’re staying D, B&B. Friendly staff, who are never to busy to help!! A return will definitely take place.

The most patient and kind desk manager Heidi

Heidi, the desk manager was the most helpful and patient person. My husband and I needed to make several calls and did not know how to dial the numbers presented. We must have approached her desk 20 times to inquire about making calls/getting change/parking, etc. Each time Heidi responded with a smile and pleasant tone. The rooms were clean and comfortable. We ate dinner and breakfast in the dining room. Delicious! If we are ever in Bath, we would stay again!

TripAdvisor – June 2017

This is the Hotel for me in Bath

The hotel is very well maintained. The Reception staff are sincerely helpful and welcoming. The rooms have good facilities, lovely white crisp linen, comfy pillows and duvet. Complimentary tea and coffee, bathroom products. and free Wifi made life easier. And the electric fan a joy in hot weather AND a lift – also a joy in a Bath building. Price, considering how much I enjoyed my stay, was very fair by comparison with my experiences elsewhere. Great location and willingness to store luggage. Highly recommended but I hope that doesn’t mean I won’t be able to find a vacancy whenever I visit Bath!

TripAdvisor – May 2017

Comfortable and Convenient

My friend and I had only a short time in Bath and the excellent location across from the railway station was a time saver. We came in early and the staff was gracious about storing our luggage. We checked in to a very large room with a whole seating area, which was a bonus. The hotel was quiet and the staff efficient and friendly.

“Really nice hotel, great staff”

The Royal Hotel is in an excellent location for those travelling by train (it’s exactly opposite the station!) and for accessing the City Centre and the Thermae Spa. Though not the most modern of hotels it really doesn’t matter and, actually, its delightful architecture and design adds to the feel of the place. The room was clean and tidy, as was the en suite, and the wifi was easy to access. Breakfast was great, with varied with both continental and cooked options. The best thing about this hotel, however, is its staff who were not only friendly, accommodating and polite, but funny and considerate. Particular thanks goes to Heidi who helped with a shoe-related incident that my mum had (she’ll know what I mean!) – we really appreciated her attitude, which was put mum at ease after she started to worry about having made a mess. Thanks again, Heidi! If we come to Bath again (which I hope we do) then we’ll definitely be looking at staying at The Royal.

“When in Bath stay at the Royal Hotel!”

My sister flew out from South Africa and joined me for a night at the Royal Hotel in Bath which I simply booked via the Internet. We were so very pleased when we arrived to find what a lovely hotel it is, filled with staff that go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and at home. The hotel is centrally situated across the road from the rail station and close to all the tourist attractions in Bath. Our room was delightful with canopied double bed, choccies and a welcome bowl of fruit! The bathroom was large with a shower and bath and a range of delightful welcome goodies awaiting us on the shelves. Every single staff member was pleasant and courteous and professional. The dinner was an absolute delight (including our free glass of champagne!). Breakfast the next morning was just as good as we thought it would be.I heartily recommend this hotel and am happy to award it five stars!

Had a wonderful stay, as always! Recommend to all our family and friends, handing brochures to them with our pleasure!! All the staff were brilliant as always, shame that Will has moved on, but very good luck to him. Great to see Heidi’s smiling face on our arrival, she’s an absolute credit to the hospitality business. All other staff were brilliant also, food was delicious as per 🙂 myself and my brother cannot wait to return next month. See you all very soon.

“Excellent stay”

This is our 4th visit to the Royal Bath Hotel. The staff are second to none, the breakfast is great and evening meal has a lovely variety and is great. The whole deal of bed, breakfast and evening meal is excellent value for money. You do not need a car as station is just across the road. Bath is fantastic and we will certainly be coming again. Thank you Heidi on reception for all your help and kindness and to Will for recommending our room, it was as you said perfect. All staff are helpful and go the extra mile which is what you want when on holiday. Thank you all. Also a thank you to the cleaning ladies who kept our room clean, tidy and always full of biscuits and drinks thank you ladies.

“Amazing trip for mums 60th”

Cannot recommend this hotel enough! The staff are a credit to this hotel. Big big thanks to everyone including Heidi for her impeccable customer service, nothing was too much trouble, so friendly and accommodating. Firstly she made sure mums surprise trip was special including the chocolates left in our room we stayed during a spell of good weather, our room was particularly warm, we found a fan in our wardrobe which turned out to be very noisy. The next morning she asked us how we slept and we mentioned the said fan. By the time we had eaten breakfast and returned to our room a new silent fan stood in its place! So to conclude Heidi is pretty amazing. Also big thanks to Alice in the restaurant who went above and beyond to cater for my gluten intolerance and her knowledge was first class. This leads onto thanks for the chef who adapted items on the menu to suit. I enjoyed all food provided and the breakfast choice is fantastic too also catering for gluten intolerance and vegetarians too. The hotel is in a great location to see the landmarks of bath… just less than 10mins walk away from Abby, spars and shops. Will definitely be returning. Thank you.

“Great Location”

I booked the room because it was located near the train station and was well priced. I pleasantly surprised by the nice well appointed room and full sized bathroom with a large tub. The staff was friendly and accommodating and helped me by allowing me to stow my luggage when I arrived before check-in. Would definitely stay here again if I revisit Bath.

“Friendly and Accommodating”

This is an old fashioned hotel with a lot of character and good atmosphere, partly due to the amazing staff. My daughter and I stayed with my two year old grandson and nothing was too much trouble for them. We would like to convey particular thanks to Heidi, Marion, Adam and James. The food was top-notch, of exceptional quality and the service excellent. The rooms are well equipped with everything one needs and we found our beds very comfortable with feather duvets and pillows. Authentic quality of service is rare these days but the Royal certainly has it and we will definitely return.

I chose this hotel for a surprise trip to Bath for my husband and I am so glad that I did. “Excellent staff”

My husband and I stayed 5 April for our Wedding Anniversary on a Wowcher deal – we had a really fantastic stay at the Royal. It was terrific value and situated in the centre of Bath. We booked a car parking space £8.50 for 24 hours which was perfect. On arrival we had our cream tea which was most welcome and after a lovely afternoon in Bath we enjoyed our evening meal – the waiting staff were very friendly and efficient, which is refreshing and the food good. BUT, this is what was exceptional- I suffer from M.E. and was not well enough to endure breakfast in the dining room (and this was almost at the end of breakfast) so had to be taken back to my room. I asked if I could have some cereal etc in my room and James said not to worry he would bring me and my husband our breakfast to our room. WE WERE ASTOUNDED!’ as 2 trays absolutely full of everything you could imagine- cereal, cooked breakfast, croissants, fruit, jams, juice, tea, sauces and more …. James and Alice had a tray each and were so pleased to do it for us. I was so overwhelmed with their kindness and just wanted to say how it made my stay memorable and I shall never forget it. Thank you so much. We are coming back for a break in December. Many, many thanks. It warrants highlighting these 2 members of staff.
