Just got back from a lovely break in the Royal. It was my first stay there, but won’t be my last. Conveniently situated opposite the railway station, it’s quite an imposing building. The staff are the Royals main asset, from the moment you step through their doors, you receive a warm welcome and nothing is too much trouble – customer service at its best! My friend and I, had a lovely twin room on the 3rd floor and after unpacking, settled down to our afternoon cream tea, which was part of the deal we booked with the hotel. The evening meal was of a good standard and again the service was impeccable. The main lounge is cosy, but gets really busy. There is however, another smaller lounge if you like a quieter atmosphere – basically the Royal caters for all tastes. Again, a big thank you to all the staff, for making our stay so special. We will return!
