We booked a four night package over Christmas at the Royal Hotel and were not disappointed! The initial booking was handled by Heidi, reception manager, who we had several subsequent conversations with. She is friendly, highly organised and efficient, which was a great start. We booked a four-poster room (there are two at the hotel and well worth the supplement). The hotel is right in the centre of Bath, opposite the railway station. A slight negative is there are only six car parking spaces, which need to be pre-booked and fill up quickly. We used the Manvers Street Car Park, which is £15 for 24hrs so you will need to factor that into your costs. The biggest asset at the hotel is the amazing staff. They are led by general Manager Mike and Deputy Manager Lena, who work tirelessly and incredibly long hours. They lead their fantastic staff by example. Neither of them seemed to mind what they did and pitched in doing whatever was necessary. Every team member seemed happy in their jobs and were all focused on customer satisfaction. Special thanks to Judith and Margaret who served us during the Christmas period, they were fantastic – nothing was too much trouble. All in all a great value Christmas package with lovely extras like Champagne & snacks in the room on arrival, complimentary Champagne with Christmas dinner, a table left on each floor to help oneself to chocolates/biscuits, fruit etc and a coach tour around Bath organised for Boxing Day. We will certainly return and if you do decide to book for Christmas, do not miss the midnight service at the Abbey on Christmas Eve, it is very special!
