As of the last few years – if I extend my visit to this wonderful city from a day trip to a modest 36 hours or more mini-break, I now always stay at the Royal Hotel. Besides being so conveniently situated for both railway and coach arrival and departure – and located so centrally to most of the ‘must do and see’ things that Bath has to offer – all the staff are always so very welcoming and helpful, and after having enjoyed a refreshing 3 hour session at the Thermae Spa – were really great about fitting me in at a good time for a really delicious 3 course dinner – at short notice – so that I could get to see the play that I’d booked at the marvellous Theatre Royal on the evening of my first day. Accommodation (single room) was clean and cosy, with everything that I needed, and breakfast the next morning (thank goodness I’d had dinner so early the evening before !) was as always a great way to begin a hard days’ Christmas shopping . It’s also a lovely place to stay at ANY time of year.
